FOR RETAIL & DELI-STYLE
CSQ FOR RETAIL
CSQ Retail is an accredited, current Good Handling Practices (cGHP) conformant, safety and quality management, process certification program for the sale of cannabinoid-containing products, regardless of regulatory classification, at a legal retail location.
RETAIL SCOPE:
Applies to all activities related to the handling, storage, distribution, and sale of cannabinoid-containing products, regardless of regulatory classification, within a legal retail operation for the purposes of maintaining the safety and quality of cannabinoid-containing products.
RETAIL NOTE
Handling, storage, and distribution activities are considered RETAIL and conform to cGHP requirements.
This DOES NOT include “deli-style” retail activities or the cultivation or production of cannabis plants, extraction of cannabinoid-containing herbal materials, production of cannabinoid-containing substances, or manufacture of cannabinoid-containing products.
CSQ Retail Audit Requirements
CSQ Retail is intended for the audit, certification, and registration of safety and quality management systems meeting the audit requirements of the CSQ Standard for Retail. The CSQ Retail Audit Requirements are incorporated into five (5) modules.
- CSQ – Retail includes Modules 1, 2B, 3E, 4B, and 5.
- CSQ – Deli-Style Retail includes Modules 1, 2A, 3D, 4A, and 5.

CSQ Retail Leveling System
CSQ Retail has been divided into three (3) levels of conformance.
CSQ FOR
DELI-STYLE
CSQ Retail Deli-Style is an accredited, cGHP and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) conformant, safety and quality management, process certification program for the production and sale of cannabinoid-containing products, regardless of regulatory classification, at a legal retail location.
DELI-STYLE SCOPE:
All CSQ Retail activities in addition to “deli-style” retail activities which include the packing and labeling of cannabinoid herbal materials at the point of sale, production of cannabinoid pre-roll at the retail location, or where the end-consumer can see and/or smell exposed cannabinoid herbal materials at the retail location.
DELI-STYLE NOTE
Handling, storage, and distribution activities are considered RETAIL and conform to cGHP requirements. “Deli-Style” activities are considered MANUFACTURING and conform to cGMP requirements.
Categories of cannabinoid-containing products and manufacturing activities incorporated within the scope of CSQ Deli-Style Retail include:
- Breakdown, blending, and packing of bulk packages of cannabinoid-containing herbal materials (i.e. flower) into denominations of various quantities.
- Grinding/milling of cannabinoid-containing herbal material.
- Blending of batches of ground/milled flower.
- Manufacture of cannabinoid-containing pre-rolls/cigarettes and blunts/cigars.
- Packing cannabinoid-containing pre-rolls/cigarettes and blunts/cigars into denominations of various quantities.
This DOES NOT include the cultivation or production of cannabis plants, extraction of cannabinoid-containing herbal materials, production of cannabinoid-containing substances, or manufacture of cannabinoid-containing products.
CSQ Deli-Style Retail Audit Requirements
