Dave Owens
Director of Culinary, Proper Brands
Dave Owens is a veteran chef who applies knowledge gained at elite St. Louis restaurants and a national confectionery company to lead his team’s production of Proper Brands infused products, including Honeybee edibles and RATIO mints. With over 40 years of culinary experience in the areas of confectionery R&D and farm-to-table restaurants, Dave’s comprehensive knowledge of food science and product development helps him anticipate new cooking trends in cannabis and create the consistently dosed products that make the Honeybee line so successful.
Prior to joining the company, Dave spent over a decade as the Chief Chocolatier and Vice President of Taste at Bissinger’s Handcrafted Chocolatier, where he won seven of the Specialty Foods Association’s coveted sofi™ awards. He was also Chef and Partner at Terrene Restaurant and Executive Chef and Partner at the iconic Cardwell’s and later at Cardwell’s on the Plaza. Dave studied Culinary Arts in St. Louis and has given lectures on the technical aspects of confections. He lives in St. Louis and enjoys traveling with his wife and two sons, entertaining, and cycling.
