Applen brings a unique blend of scientific expertise, strategic insight, and a background in pharmaceutical research and drug safety to his current role as National Director of Quality Assurance at Sun Theory.
Jeremy has a track record of transforming quality management systems into engines of innovation and efficiency. Throughout his career, Jeremy has excelled at designing programs that enhance product integrity, streamline processes, and ensure compliance with rigorous regulatory standards.
As Senior Director of Quality Assurance at TerrAscend Corp, Jeremy built a national quality program from the ground up, assembling a high-performing team and implementing best-in-class processes that reduced product testing failure rates to under 0.25%. He spearheaded initiatives ranging from voluntary recall procedures to comprehensive packaging system risk assessments, and successfully led facilities through cGMP certification—a pioneering achievement in the Maryland market.
Prior to that, as Chief Operating Officer of AssuredTrans Inc., Applen optimized and scaled manufacturing specifications, while helping the company strengthen brand consistency and integrity across all CPG products.
Jeremy’s entrepreneurial spirit shines through his earlier ventures when he founded New Mexico’s first state-approved medical cannabis laboratory- Page Analytical. He also held executive roles such as Chief Science Officer at Bhang Inc., where he implemented cross-training programs and supplier validation systems that boosted efficiency and safeguarded product quality.
Jeremy is a recognized thought leader in standards development, serving as Vice Chairman of ASTM International’s D37 Main Committee on Cannabis and Hemp.
